well my stock cpu fan kept shutting my computer down, after i put my old amd
fan in there things are fine..i only had that stock cpu fan for not even a
year but what do you want for stock fans i guess LOL
I have a 386 IBM from 1989 that still works. The ~200MB HD still works fine
too! All my super old small HD’s still work yet new 1TB’s are lucky to last
4 years. Not to mention both my C64’s from the early 80’s still work. Funny
thing is hardly any P4 boards will last that long. I think it doesn’t help
that P4’s run so hot and so the motherboards CPU VRM goes through caps for
fun. So will the newer stuff never last as long as the older stuff because
of heat and power requirements?
5 years is a minimum that I’m expecting from my machine. 🙂 10 years mean a
good product in my ratings.
what happened after that did it fry the gpu?
electronics, as long as they’re not overvoltaged, overheated, or moving
parts, will last waaaaaay longer than 4 years, mind you. Do not overclock,
make sure your ICs and chips are cool and they’ll last for 10 years or
more, easily. Oh and I have proof of that. Some of the first computer-game
units from the early 1980s at home are still fully functional, except for
their moving parts (buttons and such). Also, I have a small webserver of
which only its HD needed replacement. Uptime 12 years.
my superclocked 4000+ is 5 years old, still going strong, overclocking
dosent do much if u have correct cooling and dont volt mod. my pc
components last much longer than i need them to. a pc should be overhauled
every 3-5 years.
lol, 100 years your pc would be shit compared to the new shit. we’ll be
downloading into our brain son
As long ast they say they do. Bwahaha Japanese Transistors have a life of
Not it means that you’re already dead and you’re now in computer heaven.
yeah the pentiums last ive got a p4 extreme 3.8ghz running at 4.2ghz and
thats lasted over 4-5 years
care of your shit and it should last forever !
I did that years ago!
P3s and P4s still work.
i had a hard drive that worked for years, then i upgraded to a HDD that
lasted couple months, just shows u can never really tell.
@DeltaPhi79 I’d expect about five years from a desktop, and maybe three
years from a laptop. Depends on how much you use it and how good of care
you take of it though.
still got an IBM with windows 95 running X-D, had it since 1998, so i would
say a loooonnnnnngggg time haha
k most of the time your pc will last 3-10 years and maybe more depending on
what you use it for and how you treat it and if you change parts or not.
Capacitors in power supplies (PSUs, voltage regulators on graphics
cards/motherboards) tend to fail, unless high quality and kept cool.
Lifetime is (very generally) inversely proportional to the square of the
avg temp. I have a hard volt modded 9700 pro inside my downloader box still
running (although rarely maxed out) – 8 years old and fine because i cool
it properly and keep it dust free.
my first computer still working … 10 years, HAVENT BEEN REPAIRED.
if anyone is interested to know more about planned obselesance. Please have
a look at a documentary called “The light bulb conspiracy”.
they last about 3 seconds after the warranty runs out
cpu’s can last up to 10 years
